Since splitting from Courteney Cox in October, David Arquette seems to have been on a downward spiral. Now, word comes that the actor has entered a rehab facility.
A rep for Arquette confirmed the news to People.com, but released no other information on what his client was being treated for. But those close to the 39-year-old say Arquette is having trouble with alcohol and psychological issues.
"He is in there for drinking and depression, not hard drugs. Rehab was inevitable," says the source. "He is dealing with a broken heart. He can't handle all the changes in his life. All his inner demons came out."
Arquette's unraveling seemed apparent from his recent interviews with Howard Stern, in which he told the shock jock that he had been seeing a psychologist on a weekly basis. He also revealed that the doctor thought Arquette may be having a nervous breakdown, and that he had been turning to alcohol to ease his pain.
"Everybody's worried and concerned about me," he added during the interview. "When I drink, I become a maniac."
Cox has released a statement in full support of her estranged husband, saying, "I really admire David and his choice to take charge and better his life. I love and support him."
