Nearly ten years after the September 11 attacks he took credit for, Osama Bin Laden is dead. Deets inside....
According to the Washington Post, American officials say Osama bin Laden was shot and killed iby U.S. Navy Seals in a mansion-like compounsd close to the Pakistani capital. And during a televised message to America, President Barack Obama made these remarks....
THE PRESIDENT: Good evening. Tonight, I can report to the American people and to the world that the United States has conducted an operation that killed Osama bin Laden, the leader of al Qaeda, and a terrorist who’s responsible for the murder of thousands of innocent men, women, and children. It was nearly 10 years ago that a bright September day was darkened by the worst attack on the American people in our history. The images of 9/11 are seared into our national memory -- hijacked planes cutting through a cloudless September sky; the Twin Towers collapsing to the ground; black smoke billowing up from the Pentagon; the wreckage of Flight 93 in Shanksville, Pennsylvania, where the actions of heroic citizens saved even more heartbreak and destruction. And yet we know that the worst images are those that were unseen to the world. The empty seat at the dinner table. Children who were forced to grow up without their mother or their father. Parents who would never know the feeling of their child’s embrace. Nearly 3,000 citizens taken from us, leaving a gaping hole in our hearts. On September 11, 2001, in our time of grief, the American people came together. We offered our neighbors a hand, and we offered the wounded our blood. We reaffirmed our ties to each other, and our love of community and country. On that day, no matter where we came from, what God we prayed to, or what race or ethnicity we were, we were united as one American family. We were also united in our resolve to protect our nation and to bring those who committed this vicious attack to justice. We quickly learned that the 9/11 attacks were carried out by al Qaeda -- an organization headed by Osama bin Laden, which had openly declared war on the United States and was committed to killing innocents in our country and around the globe. And so we went to war against al Qaeda to protect our citizens, our friends, and our allies.Over the last 10 years, thanks to the tireless and heroic work of our military and our counterterrorism professionals, we’ve made great strides in that effort. We’ve disrupted terrorist attacks and strengthened our homeland defense. In Afghanistan, we removed the Taliban government, which had given bin Laden and al Qaeda safe haven and support. And around the globe, we worked with our friends and allies to capture or kill scores of al Qaeda terrorists, including several who were a part of the 9/11 plot.Yet Osama bin Laden avoided capture and escaped across the Afghan border into Pakistan. Meanwhile, al Qaeda continued to operate from along that border and operate through its affiliates across the world. And so shortly after taking office, I directed Leon Panetta, the director of the CIA, to make the killing or capture of bin Laden the top priority of our war against al Qaeda, even as we continued our broader efforts to disrupt, dismantle, and defeat his network. Then, last August, after years of painstaking work by our intelligence community, I was briefed on a possible lead to bin Laden. It was far from certain, and it took many months to run this thread to ground. I met repeatedly with my national security team as we developed more information about the possibility that we had located bin Laden hiding within a compound deep inside of Pakistan. And finally, last week, I determined that we had enough intelligence to take action, and authorized an operation to get Osama bin Laden and bring him to justice.Today, at my direction, the United States launched a targeted operation against that compound in Abbottabad, Pakistan. A small team of Americans carried out the operation with extraordinary courage and capability. No Americans were harmed. They took care to avoid civilian casualties. After a firefight, they killed Osama bin Laden and took custody of his body. For over two decades, bin Laden has been al Qaeda’s leader and symbol, and has continued to plot attacks against our country and our friends and allies. The death of bin Laden marks the most significant achievement to date in our nation’s effort to defeat al Qaeda.Yet his death does not mark the end of our effort. There’s no doubt that al Qaeda will continue to pursue attacks against us. We must –- and we will -- remain vigilant at home and abroad. As we do, we must also reaffirm that the United States is not –- and never will be -– at war with Islam. I’ve made clear, just as President Bush did shortly after 9/11, that our war is not against Islam. Bin Laden was not a Muslim leader; he was a mass murderer of Muslims. Indeed, al Qaeda has slaughtered scores of Muslims in many countries, including our own. So his demise should be welcomed by all who believe in peace and human dignity.Over the years, I’ve repeatedly made clear that we would take action within Pakistan if we knew where bin Laden was. That is what we’ve done. But it’s important to note that our counterterrorism cooperation with Pakistan helped lead us to bin Laden and the compound where he was hiding. Indeed, bin Laden had declared war against Pakistan as well, and ordered attacks against the Pakistani people.Tonight, I called President Zardari, and my team has also spoken with their Pakistani counterparts. They agree that this is a good and historic day for both of our nations. And going forward, it is essential that Pakistan continue to join us in the fight against al Qaeda and its affiliates. The American people did not choose this fight. It came to our shores, and started with the senseless slaughter of our citizens. After nearly 10 years of service, struggle, and sacrifice, we know well the costs of war. These efforts weigh on me every time I, as Commander-in-Chief, have to sign a letter to a family that has lost a loved one, or look into the eyes of a service member who’s been gravely wounded. So Americans understand the costs of war. Yet as a country, we will never tolerate our security being threatened, nor stand idly by when our people have been killed. We will be relentless in defense of our citizens and our friends and allies. We will be true to the values that make us who we are. And on nights like this one, we can say to those families who have lost loved ones to al Qaeda’s terror: Justice has been done.Tonight, we give thanks to the countless intelligence and counterterrorism professionals who’ve worked tirelessly to achieve this outcome. The American people do not see their work, nor know their names. But tonight, they feel the satisfaction of their work and the result of their pursuit of justice. We give thanks for the men who carried out this operation, for they exemplify the professionalism, patriotism, and unparalleled courage of those who serve our country. And they are part of a generation that has borne the heaviest share of the burden since that September day. Finally, let me say to the families who lost loved ones on 9/11 that we have never forgotten your loss, nor wavered in our commitment to see that we do whatever it takes to prevent another attack on our shores. And tonight, let us think back to the sense of unity that prevailed on 9/11. I know that it has, at times, frayed. Yet today’s achievement is a testament to the greatness of our country and the determination of the American people. The cause of securing our country is not complete. But tonight, we are once again reminded that America can do whatever we set our mind to. That is the story of our history, whether it’s the pursuit of prosperity for our people, or the struggle for equality for all our citizens; our commitment to stand up for our values abroad, and our sacrifices to make the world a safer place.Let us remember that we can do these things not just because of wealth or power, but because of who we are: one nation, under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.Thank you. May God bless you. And may God bless the United States of America.

Charity will be announced at Robin Hood Foundation benefit concert.
Lady Gaga

Do you want to help Lady Gaga give away $1 million dollars to charity? Well, little monsters, here's your chance! Mother Monster is hooking up with the Robin Hood Foundation to help homeless youth in New York, her hometown.
Fans can go to Gaga's Facebook page to weigh in on which organization — The Door, Hetrick-Martin Institute, Lawyers for Children, Safe Horizon or SCO Family of Services — will be gifted the sum ($500,000 a year over two years).
The results will be announced May 9 at a special concert benefiting Robin Hood. "I'm thrilled to be working with the Robin Hood Foundation to distribute funds to help the youth of New York City," Gaga said in a statement. "NYC is my hometown and I think investing in these kids' future will go a long way."
Days before Gaga attends the Robin Hood gala, her HBO special will air. While it is a concert special, it also serves as a love letter to the Big Apple. Shot during her time in New York for two tour stops at Madison Square Garden earlier this year, the documentary shows the singer opening up about her love for the city and how it helped shape her as an artist.
"There was never a question in my mind that I was gonna make it and that this is my destiny and that we were all gonna make it as the kids of this city, as the New York generation," she says, driving through the streets of New York to MSG. "My faith in my creativity and my artistry has nothing to do with making it," she continued. "We kind of had already made it when we were playing for nothing downtown. ... We still felt like we were superstars."
Which organization do you hope Gaga's money goes to? Sound off below!

The annual White House Correspondents' Dinner is usually a raucous affair, featuring roast after roast of public officials. The point is to endure the jabs with good humor, showing that you can laugh at yourself, and that you can take as good as you give. It's all in fun, folks!
But there was one unsmiling face at Saturday's Correspondents' Dinner, and that was Donald Trump, who sat in glowering stillness as first President Barack Obama and then Seth Meyers roasted him within an inch of his life.
"I know that he's taken some flak lately, but nobody is prouder to put this birth certificate matter to rest than The Donald," Obama said of Trump. "And that’s because he can finally get back to focusing on the issues that matter, like: Did we fake the moon landing? What really happened in Roswell? And where are Biggie and Tupac?" Watch Obama's speech -- and Trump's reaction -- below!
Trump called into Fox News Sunday morning to comment on the Correspondents' Dinner saying, "I understood what I was getting into, (but I) didn't realize I would be the sole focus."
That seems a bit short-sighted to us, seeing as the birth certificate controversy had just come to a head the previous week, with Trump taking credit for Obama releasing of his long-form birth certificate. Did he honestly believe that he wouldn't be a target? Obama even poked fun at this public fracas at the Correspondents' Dinner, saying: "Tonight for the first time I am releasing my official birth video," before rolling footage from the Africa-set Disney film The Lion King.
Seth Meyers, meanwhile, started off his roast by saying, "Donald Trump often talks about running as a Republican, which is surprising... I just assumed he was running as a joke." Uproarious laughter rocketed through the dining room, but Trump sat there unsmiling.
The host of Celebrity Apprentice also told Fox, "I was thinking to myself as they were doing this that the American people are really suffering, and we're all having a good time. I think it's inappropriate in certain respects."
Trump went on to criticize Seth Meyers (who was much harsher on Trump than Obama was), saying, "I thought Seth Meyers, frankly, his delivery was not good. He's a stutterer, and he really was having a hard time."
With that one comment, Trump managed to anger the Stuttering Foundation, who put out a press release condemning Trump's words: "Shame on you, Mr. Trump! In light of The King’s Speech and the new awareness it has brought to stuttering, we had hoped that this kind of unfortunate comment was a thing of the past.”
Obviously not, but Trump seems unconcerned. He told Fox, "What I do best is the economy. I'll get China to change its ways."
Like other celebs, Trump did have some kind words for Obama following the death of Osama bin Laden. "I want to personally congratulate President Obama and the men and women of the Armed Forces for a job well done," Trump said in a statement. "I am so proud to see Americans standing shoulder to shoulder, waving the American flag in celebration of this great victory. We should spend the next several days not debating party politics, but in remembrance of those who lost their lives on 9/11 and those currently fighting for our freedom. God Bless America!"
I went to Petsmart yesterday to get some things for little Mary Margaret, and while I was pulling into the parking lot, I passed a lady getting out of her car with a monkey on her shoulders.
Of course I came to a screeching halt because there was a lady getting our of her car WITH A MONKEY ON HER SHOULDERS, and that's just something you don't see every day.
I proceeded to take a photo...

...but then thought it would be better to capture the craziness on video, so here it is:
Lady and Her Monkey Go to Petsmart from Karyn Bosnak on Vimeo.
When I told Mark about the lady and her monkey and showed him my movie, he said, "You really are crazy." I was like, "I'm crazy? THE MONKEY WAS WEARING A DIAPER AND PEARLS."
I mean, for real, let's put this into perspective.
Anywho, here's another photo of the lady and her monkey at the checkout counter:

I realize I now have one cat and two dogs, but at least I don't walk around with a monkey on my shoulders. (Yet.)

Although names like Bruno Mars and Oprah Winfrey made the final cut on this year's Time 100 list of the world's most-influential people, among the celebs MTV News spoke to at the ritzy black-tie gala in New York on Tuesday night, all the talk was about Justin Bieber and "Parks and Recreation" funny lady Amy Poehler.
La La Vazquez, with hubby Carmelo Anthony, by her side, said, "Justin Bieber actually loves 'Melo. They're still waiting to have a one-on-one basketball competition so maybe we can make that happen this summer." She continued, "I think it's an honor to be included in such an elite group and be invited to come celebrate. When I heard we got invited, I was like, 'Oh yes, we are going to this event tonight.' "
The Roots' drummer, Questlove, said he totally understands why the Biebs made the list. "I'm excited to see everybody tonight," he said. "I'm very humble to be here. It's too many to mention. I drummed with Bieber before. I think that there might have been a question to why he was included, but it's obvious this is a person that went from YouTube sensation to viral sensation to international superstar — that's gonna be the next level of celebrity."
Leave it to Poehler's "Parks and Rec" co-star Aziz Ansari to write in his own candidate. Asked whether he prefers Bieber or South Korean pop star turned actor Rain, who also made the list, Ansari joked, "I don't know who either of those people are." Adding, "The most influential person to me is probably Waka Flocka Flame. He's on the list, right? I'm pretty sure he was on there."
All jokes aside, Ansari had only love for Poehler. calling her a "very inspirational person; tremendously talented and really a leader in her field."
Poehler's former "Saturday Night Live" co-star Seth Meyers also had tons of love for her. "For me personally, Amy Poehler's the most influential on the list," he said. "I certainly wouldn't be invited to this without Amy Poehler, so that's a big step. Mostly just like providing coattails for me to ride on for years," he joked. "That's pretty key; that influenced me a lot."
About Bieber, Meyers later added: "I quote him a lot. I say 'Baby, baby, baby' a lot more than I used to. I work in a maternity ward in my off-time."

If Charlie Sheen was hoping to regain his place on the sitcom Two and a Half Men, it looks like his bargaining tactics leave a little bit to be desired.
With the news that CBS may be planning to move forward with a Charlie Sheen-free Two and a Half Men, the vitriolic actor has lashed out yet again, firing off an open letter to series creator Chuck Lorre via his favorite messenger: TMZ, which has posted the insult-laden epistle in full.
In the letter, Sheen refers to Lorre as a "sad silly fool," "a narcissist, a coward, a loser, a spineless rat" and a "low rent, nut-less sociopath" -- among others. And that's just the tip of the iceberg. He rails against Two and a Half Men, writing: "No one cares about your feeble show without me... I'm out here with my fans every night. The message is crystal clear. NO CHARLIE SHEEN. NO SHOW. And that's exactly what it will be for you and your desperate vanity cards, every Monday night, a no-show."
Sheen goes even further into personal territory in the letter, sneering at Lorre's for being a part of a "pathetic AA loser lounge" and even stating that "they are planning on voting you off the AA island. Even those clowns have no room for you anymore." Alcoholics Anonymous works, in part, because AA members trust that their anonymity will be protected, so this is a very dirty tactic from Sheen -- though not a surprising one. Sheen closes his loving missive with, "You've been warned. Reap the whirl-wind you cockroach, reap it."
Sheen's fight with Lorre has been brutal and public -- he even wants the $100 million lawsuit he has brought against the producers at CBS to skip arbitration and be tried in public. (On this subject, Sheen's letter states: "I'll beat your chicken s*** soul in a court room into a state of gratitude.") And, although Sheen insists in his letter that the show will be a failure without him, a lawyer for Warner Bros. has already unequivocally shot down rumors that Charlie is in talks to rejoin Men.
Even if Sheen did somehow worm his way back onto the show, wouldn't it be a little tense having to work for a man you referred to as a "low rent nut-less sociopath"? How will that play out, Charlie? The "whirlwind" here is Sheen's and Sheen's alone to reap.

So I'm at O'Hare right now getting ready to fly back to New York with my babies. Bev and Mary Margaret are in one bag together.

Earlier there was some cuddling, but now I hear a bit of growling. Mary Margaret has a tendency to terrorize poor Beverly...
The big thing I'm afraid of, however, isn't the growling—it's that Mary Margaret will poop in her bag. If she does poop, I've decided that I'm going to poop too, because me shitting myself will totally trump her shitting herself, right?
That's gross... girls shouldn't talk about poop.
Poop, poop, poop.
Anywho... I'll check in later to tell you how it goes. The flight is delayed right now, which just makes the possibility of pooping more likely. For me and her.
(I know, I know... girls shouldn't talk about poop.)
